Cassie Peterson is a New York-based writer, thinker, and lavender menace. She works as a psychotherapist by day, and moonlights as a performer, dramaturge, essayist, & performing arts critic. Her extemporaneous musings and critical inqueeries can be found on her art & theory blog, Self & Other, as well as being featured in various performance publications. Currently, she also works as a resident “Context Note” Writer for the New York Live Arts, 2012/2013 performing arts season and is a regular, contributing member to the Collective for Dance Writing and New Media. Additionally, in July 2012, she presented and performed her most recent body of research, “The Lies that Bind: Heteronormative Constructions of Family in Clinical Discourse,” at the annual Queering Paradigms conference at the University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
